Doran Timeline

 

1845

Patrick Doran immigrated from Ireland and started a contracting company in Ottawa.

1896

William Junior Doran founded Doran Contractors in Ottawa.

1896-1921

Major Projects:

  • East Block of the Parliament Building
  • Ottawa Pumping Station, Lemieux Island
  • Norlite Building on Wellington Street, Ottawa’s first concrete high-rise structure
1929

Burke and Hugh Doran continue their fathers legacy and operate Doran contracting for the next 50 years working on medium sized projects.

1968

Doran is sold to 4 senior employees.

1983

Doran Contractors Limited is born. The Taggart Construction team has worked with Doran for several years on projects. In 1983, the strengths of two organizations were permanently intertwined when Doran was welcomed into the Taggart Group of Companies, with Dave Parkes as Doran’s President.

 

1996

Bill Pieterson takes over as President.

1998

Doran moved to the Albion Road location

Ontario General Contractors Association Distinguished Achievement in Health and Safety Award.

Project of the Year Award (2012) – Environment, Greater than $10 Million, for the Westend & Keefer Cathcart Regulator Projects

Wayne Jennings takes over as President

2014

Project of the Year Award (2014) – Disaster / Emergency Construction / Repair, $2 – $10 Million, for the Ottawa WWTP Raw Sewage PS Emergency Bypass Pumping;

2015
